Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

Here's another card I created using the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company.  This is one of the ideas from their shop and same layout.

I'm not sure how the solid part of the ornament was done but I thought it was the center of the die.  However, I think it was another piece of paper that was cut out for the backing since mine has a gap and theirs doesn't.  I'm wondering what I can do to hide it so if you have any ideas... please comment!

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

How about a pink and red holiday card? I think by adding a little silver and the shape of the ornaments help make it Christmas card instead of Valentines... I hope.  LOL  This is created using the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company.

I also used the Birthday Dots Stencil to add texture to the white background.

Shoot for the Moon

My my project today, I'm using Shoot for the Moon chipboard embellishments from Make it Crafty. I attempted to do some water coloring on the background with my Spectrum Aqua markers.  However, the paper beaded up so badly that I don't think it turned out well.  But I used my fingers and some water to smooth it out and salvage what I could.  Then the chipboard was painted and placed on top - it didn't turn out so bad.  This is in the same style as the store samples for this product.

Little Houses

Welcome to Day 7 of my Advent calendar!  Today I'm joining with Ute at Bastel-Traum on their Advent calendar.  I'm sharing a tutorial on how to add snow to an every-day image.  For this project, I've used Little Houses clear stamp by Little Miss Muffet Stamps.

For today only - you can get this stamp at 50% OFF!  WOW!
Add Little Houses to your shopping cart.
(Offer expires at midnight, Central Texas time.)

For each of the images below, you can click on them to make them larger.

First, I stamped the image in gray. It makes it dark enough that I can see the lines really well but also light enough that I get a good no-line coloring effect.  I used Memento London Fog ink.

I then colored the houses as I normally would except I didn't color the green grass. That part will be colored later as snow by adding a little grays.

Here's where I start on the sky. I put down a solid layer of B0000 to get the paper wet.

Then I used B000, B91 and B93 to gradually make it darker. I swiped the brush tip from the top down, making sure I didn't go all the way down. For each color the strokes got smaller. I had planned to go as dark as B99 but the paper had some oils on it which I could see as I was using B91.  I then decided to stop at B93 and go for a light colored sky.

After all the colors were down, then I used the lightest color, B0000 to swipe up from the bottom to help blend in some more.

My next strategy is to work on the snow instead of the grass. I used C2, C3, C1 and 0 to create some depth and shadows.

This is where the fun part starts with the White Gel pen. I first added snow to the red house, then the blue house. Then I added icicles on the roof and finally snow flakes across the entire image. Remember to add snow flakes in front of the image too. This is a good way to hide some blunders.  LOL

My last step is to add drop shadows or cast shadows.  I do this with BV23. Be careful not to color the white snow or the snowflakes. I added shadows under the snow on the bushes and tree, under the roof line and a little on the ground under the bushes. I also added some for the icicles. If you really want them to stand out, you can use BV25; or a mixture of both.

For the final product, I cut out the paper with some dies and layered the card. I added snowflake chipboard from Make it Crafty and some white gems for a sparkle.

Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial on adding snows and thanks for stopping by.
Fröhliche Weihnachten!

Pluto

On this Day 6 of the Advent, I have a card featuring Pluto from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. I colored the bird as a Great Green Macaw.  I tried to add more yellow to the feathers since the belly and inside feathers are lighter than the back.

The paper I found had the Christmas tree and pressies and I decided that would be fun to use. So I fussy cut around the bird and ribbons to use the package on the paper instead. This allowed me use pop-up foam to give the card some dimension.  It turned out better than I expected.

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

It's "Day 5" of this Advent Calendar and I hope you are enjoying the festive inspiration.  Here's another project I created using the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company.  I didn't add a sentiment to this card and just keep the focus on the ornament - but I think it also creates a focus on the snowman too.  The decorative paper and sprinkles work well together.

Polymer Fruit

It's day 4 on this Advent Calendar and instead of a card, I have some Polymer fruit to share. I made these tiny pieces from oven clay that I baked then glazed and drew faces on.  The peas are a bit oversized but it is the odd ball in this crowd anyway since it's a vegetable instead of a fruit.  For size reference, the orange is 1/5 inches wide (about 13 millimeters). Yep, their tiny.

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

Here's another card I've made using the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company and is also one of the layout ideas from the kit (shown in their shop). I changed a few things to match up with what I had but it turned out just as well, I think.

Clover New Beginnings

You've opened the 2nd "door" of this Advent calendar. I hope to have something every day.  :D  This is Clover New Beginnings from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. I had colored this one once before but did it all in pink so this time I thought I'd go for blues. Then I added a little red for a pop of bold color.

The Copic markers I used on Clover New Beginnings are:

B99, 97, 95, 21, 000
R59, 37, 14, 21

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

This is the month for Queen and Company as I purchased the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit and have created over a dozen cards so far. It's been fun to make these easy shaker cards. This one is on a single layer cardstock base but I wish I had doubled the layers as the top has started to warp.  Alas, it'll still bring a smile to someone.

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

I'm diving into an Advent Calendar on my blog. Yikes!  However, I already have half the cards done so we'll see how the rest of the month goes... and it's not 30 days that I need to fill but just 25.  Phew!  Wish me luck.

Here's a pre-advent card that I'm sharing using the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company. The layout and colors are from their blog.

I'd like to enter this into the SugarPea Mix It Up Challenge #37. SPDMIU37

Merry & Bright Ornament Kit

I wanted to create some quick shaker cards and saw the Merry & Bright Ornament Kit from Queen and Company and decided to splurge a little. Even though they weren't as quick as I thought they would be but the end result of shaking them was as fun as I predicted. This layout is the same one in the kit shown in their store.

I had tried to make some larger shaker cards using their pre-cut card kits but I had a lot of trouble with static. They were generous enough to send me some more so I hope to give it another go. I am pleased, however, to say these smaller ones were a breeze. I'll be making more of these for sure!

Easy Mini Albums

A new linking challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps today - hop on over and link up one of your projects from today in the Anything Goes Challenge!

My project uses the Easy Mini Albums booklet to create this envelope gift. This is the outside which features a pocket on the side for a personal note. The image I used is From Me To You by Whimsy.

When it opens from the back, this is what it looks like... and another envelope to follow.  On the bottom panel I used the Party Banner metal die from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and the words are chipboard embellishments from Make it Crafty that have been painted black then covered with Sparkles glitter gel.

Looking at the center part of this panel, the nested envelope part, I've used Polka Dot Pals Tanzen rubber stamp with the Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces. The cupcake are Cupcakes 'n Books from Little Miss Muffet Stamps as well.
This last envelop reveals the inside.  In the center, I also used the Party Banner metal die plus the Needle and Thread from DoveArt Studios.  The sentiment is more chipboard embellishments from Make it Crafty.

When I cut around the needle, I cut off the thread part instead of fussy cutting around it.  Then I actually threaded the needle with Baker's twine and glued it artistically to the background.  I thought that added a fun element.  I suppose I should have added a shadows with the marker as well so I'll go back and do that before I give it away. :D

On the bottom panel, I also used the Cupcakes 'n Books stamp to replace one of the strawberries in the wagon. The girl is Sunbonnet Strawberry Wagon and I had stamped two wagons to create a train instead of one.  Now this project is nearly complete - I just need to write a letter to tuck into the front then I'm done.  Yay!

Swings 'n Slides Slurp

My project uses the Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces and gives this tyke a new face, Swings 'n Slides Slurp. I inked up the stamp then used a cotton swap to clear off the face before I stamped it. Then I selected one of the Add-on Faces and gave him a new smile.

Come join the Anything Goes Challenge - link up one of your projects this week!

Here's a comparison of the original and the end result. The left one was fabulously colored by Faye who does an amazing job with blending!  But you'll have to look past that to see their faces and how the new Add-on Face looks on Slurp.

Here are the Copic markers I used:

E27, 23, 31, 00, 04, R02, 08
YG99, 23, 01, 25, 17
